Michael Bourn had 2 base hits and Daniel Hudson mowed down 12 Gotham City
batters at SAFECO Field as the South Range Mariners beat the Gotham City
Gargoyles 5 to 4.

Hudson(2-1) gave South Range a solid outing. He surrendered 5 hits and 2
walks in 7 innings and allowed 2 gopher balls. A wild and woolly affair,
this game saw the lead change 5 times.

Miguel Batista got the save, his 15th. Frank Francisco(4-4) was the losing
pitcher in relief. The South Range fans were thrilled by the performance put
forth by Hudson, but it was clearly his strikeouts that they enjoyed most.
'When he reached 10 strikeouts the fans showed him their appreciation with a
loud cheer.' Mike Swanson said following the game.

Rob Johnson slammed a homerun and had 3 RBI and Daniel Hudson allowed Mike
Swanson to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game as the South Range
Mariners defeated the Williamsburg Burgesses by a score of 7 to 2 at SAFECO
Field.

South Range took the lead for good in the 3rd inning plating 2 runs on 2 base
hits. Johnson led off and keyed the rally when he stroked a one-base hit.
Josh Wilson* came to the plate and lifted one out of the park for a two run
home run. Hudson followed, but he was set down on strikes. South Range
banged out 7 hits on the night.

The victory was credited to Hudson(1-1) who went the distance, allowing 2
runs. Jeff Niemann(4-8) took the loss. He was not very effective,
surrendering 5 runs in 3 and 2/3 innings.

South Range now has a record of 39-80. Williamsburg can't seem to snap out of
their recent 'funk'. Now they have a miserable 1-9 record over the last
couple weeks.

Phil Hughes(5-7) and Daniel Hudson(0-1) locked horns in a pitcher's duel with
Hughes and the Plum Island Greenheads coming out on top of the South Range
Mariners 2 to 1.

Plum Island had 2 runs cross the plate in the 6th inning. The biggest moment
was provided by Jonny Gomes who disappointed the partisan crowd when he
bombed a two-run dinger. South Range tried unsuccessfully to come back in
the 9th.

Octavio Dotel preserved the game for Hughes, recording his his 9th. Mike
Swanson was reflective after the loss, 'We should have won this one, we just
made one too many mistakes. Son-of-a-gun, that added a couple more white
hairs on this noggin of mine.'
