Carlos Beltran had 2 base hits and Philip Humber recorded a complete game
shutout at SAFECO Field as the very strong New York Metz beat the South Range
Mariners 2 to 0.
Humber(5-4) pitched a solid game. He gave up just 4 hits and 4 walks in 9
innings dropping his ERA from 3.43 to 3.07. New York totaled 10 hits on the
night.
Joel Pineiro(9-8) suffered the loss. He pitched 6 innings giving up 8 hits
and 2 walks. The win by New York is a very welcome one as they have been
struggling in recent days. Their record now stands at a division leading
75-34 - only 1-9 in their last ten games. With the loss South Range now has
a record of 58-60.
